Hannay & Nash

Archie Hannay, Jonathan Nash

Hannay & Nash were a British techno duo consisting of Archie Hannay and Jonathan Nash, active during the mid-1990s. Between 1995 and 1996, they produced raw, driving tracks under various aliases including Interwax U.K., Warlords Project, and Imperial Code, exploring styles that ranged from hard techno to acid and tribal rhythms. Their most notable release was the Inertia EP on the German label Syndrome Audio.
They also released music on several sub-labels of Collective Recordings UK, a label network believed to have originated in southern England—possibly Bournemouth, a city known for its vibrant rave and warehouse party culture in the 1990s. The labels affiliated with Collective Recordings—such as Artificial Flavours, Burning Flesh, Elements, and Chemical Records—were part of an experimental, deeply underground scene defined by its uncompromising sound and strong DIY ethos (Do-It-Yourself“).
